Recorded sporadically at home between July 2020 and May 2021, lockdown lyrics welded to new music and fresh songs created from scratch... With neither the kinship of a band, the luxury of record company representation, the privilege of a recording studio or - as I suddenly find - the headspace for poetic sleeve notes, it's DIY shouting down an empty receiver. Perhaps this time the shout's a little louder. Violent songs, with frequently violent mixes pushing well into the red. Red raw. Rough and ready. There's renegades, too. A pair of older songs revisited immediately after Add To The Noise, just for the sake of recording something, anything. Listening back to everything produced during those 10 months, this pair seemed imbued with the same surly attitude as the fresh tracks. Too often re-recording becomes an exercise in diminishing returns, sapping emotion and energy with every take - but not this time. In breaking that 'never look back' aesthetic, these renegades also become part of the problem raged against herein. Perhaps in this paradox, all these songs can agree.
